    On Feb. 14th, through The New Short Fiction Series, the actors listed below will perform dramatic readings of excerpts from my short story collection, The Name of Longing.

    My collection focuses on stories about Indians and Indian Americans.

    I am a creative writer and a professor of literature at the California State University Northridge. Asia Pacific Arts magazine has just published an author profile of me and this upcoming event on their website.

    The New Short Fiction Series™, Los Angeles' longest running spoken word series, presents Shubha Venugopal’s The Name of Longing. The performance stars spoken word artist Sally Shore, with guest cast Amrapali Ambegaokar (Heroes, Grey's Anatomy), Puja Mohindra (Three Rivers) and Viji Nathan (Leverage, The OC).
